Orgeous BLUE MORENCI TURQUOISE Bench bead Sterling Silver Choker NECKLACE handmade unsigned old pawn; made for personal use or trade; The Morenci turquoise mine produced a turquoise that is light to dark bright blue in hue. This stone has an unusual matrix of irregular quartz and pyrite that, when polished, often resembles silver. One of the first American turquoises to come to the market was Morenci Turquoise. Morenci is highly valued and difficult to obtain because the Morenci mine in Southeast AZ is buried under tons of rock (and permanently closed). This mine will never open again because the mine was leeched with chemicals that would have destroyed any remaining turquoise. HIGH GRADE NATURAL MORENCI TURQUOISE STERLING SILVER BENCH BEAD CHOKER NECKLACE. Necklace: 20.5L 51grtw; 1.80oztw 1960s' excellent condition; no damage to stones or setting; bench beads strung with silver wire.

All Stones Natural and tightly set. Beautiful high to gem grade necklace.

Pictures do not capture the actual beauty of this necklace. The necklace measures 20.5L with beautiful stones; no cracks or damage to stones or sterling necklace. The Necklace is embellished with five natural High Grade Blue Morenci Turquoise With Pyrite Cabochon stones; the stones measure from L-R circa: 3/8 diameter. 5"diameter 3/8" diameter; all +/- at widest points. Medium Dark Patina to silver. The five sterling silver raised Bezels holding the Morenci Stones average about 5/8 diameter x. 25H; the 96 handmade sterling silver bench beads measure c. 25diameter each and are double and single strung on wire. Necklace is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. My pieces are all high grade, gem grade and natural; with the turquoise taking millions of years to form just under the right conditions.
We are all aware that most of the Southwest Mines are now depleted, no longer producing, or closed... So old stock like this is rarely offered.
